Welcome to my humble abode! In September I finally moved out of my parents’ house and moved into a lovely little flat on the edge of Manchester city centre with a couple of friends.
The flat has three double bedrooms, although one of them is much more generous than the other two which are both virtually identical and about 70% bed! We drew names out of a hat to decide who gets the biggest room and unfortunately I wasn’t so lucky, but I like to make the most of what I’ve got and so this blog will focus on how to do big things with small spaces.
Here’s a tour of how the flat looked when we first moved in…
This is my room! I know, it’s pretty tiny. But as you’ll see through the course of this blog, since taking this photo, I’ve worked my magic and made it gorgeous.
Above is my flatmate Saskia’s room. I’m pretty envious of the amount of space that she has. But paying less for the smaller room means I have a bit of extra cash to spend on making it look nice…and drinking. Extra cash is always good for that too.
And here’s our living/dining room. Not a bad size but between us three girls we have managed to fill it with stuff. I hope to find some interesting ways of saving space and keeping the place tidy. I keep spotting lots of lovely furniture that I’d like to buy but it is tricky as there’s only so much room and the current furniture belongs to the landlord and so we can’t exactly swap it.
Here’s the kitchen. A reasonable size I suppose, but it’s unbelievable how messy it can get in such a short space of time. I think we’re all still students at heart and could do with our Mums popping round every now and again to keep us in check.
And here’s the bathroom!
